Satoru TOKUHISA.

He was born on 6 August 1978 in Yamaguchi, Japan.
In September 2007 he got a PhD in Media and Governance.

He is an experience designer and a thinker about design. He submits a problem based on sensitivity as an artist and solves the problem based on sensitivity as a designer. His objective of design is “experience” generated via interaction. Now, he is especially interested in learning system for children, urban environment and BOP (Base of the Pyramid) design.

He majored in Politics in his undergraduate years, but he was not satisfied with this, so went to graduate school in order to study Media Design with design thinking for problem solution. In his graduate years, he developed many interactive systems focusing on embodiment and fun. His PhD thesis focuses on a design method which generates fun for the user through an interactive system of play and creation.

His works are technologically characterized by an interactive system with a tangible interface or perceptual interface. He designs not only electronic circuits, exteriors and software, but also sound, video and graphic. In addition, He has developed mobile applications and web applications in his spare time.

Categories of his work in the design filed range from device, interior, architecture, learning systems and game. These works entered into a number of challenging competitions such as SIGGRAPH Emerging Technologies (2003, 2005), Japan Media Art Festival (2004, 2007), Asia Digital Art Award (2005, 2008), FILE (2007, 2008) and Laval Virtual(2006, 2008).
