The World is Canvas aims to increase motivation in children to paint through the creation of original coloring. The method is that the user shoots any object using the camera embedded on iPhone or prepares a photo with their favorite composition or characters. Next, the user selects the image on this application, and the application traces the image loaded into the application and generates a draft for coloring. The user can color with any color and brushes with his/her fingers on the processed image.
This application introduced "situation design" as a method of experience design which not only designs experience of behavior itself but also designs the experience of environment surrounding behavior. For the former, we adopted direct painting function on to the screen using the user’s finger in order to provide fun through physical interaction. For the latter, we adopted a sampling function to use the photos taken by the users as drafts for coloring in order to provide fun through social interaction. This application allows children to take a photo of any object in any place with any composition. We aim to prompt children to communicate with the people around them, and to add fun to the experience of environment surrounding behavior.
